Celebrating 35 Years’ of training the next generation

Held on a sunny evening overlooking the beautiful grounds of The Talbot Hotel in Malton, Derwent Training held their 35 Years’ in Business Celebration along with the Annual Apprentice Awards Evening on Thursday 7th September 2023.

We were joined by current and former leaders of Derwent Training, our partner employers and their nominated apprentices along with their families, and supporters of Derwent Training and the work we do across Yorkshire. We also had the pleasure of welcoming The Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mr Simon Theakston who presented the awards to the worthy winners. The evening was kicked of by a fantastic speech by the Deputy Lieutenant talking about King Charles’ support of apprenticeships and noted how he recently commented that ‘not everyone is designed for academic study, apprenticeships are vital and too often overlooked as career options.’

Our Chief Executive, Claire Gavaghan had this to say of this achievement: ‘It is important to commemorate our coral anniversary, 35 years of providing training for employers in North Yorkshire. With many independent training providers closing, the longevity of Derwent Training is commendable and a testament to all who worked at and supported the business. Indeed, coral has symbolic meaning for longevity and success. And coral is the bedrock of the reef and the foundation for much marine life. In parallel, Derwent Training is the bedrock of engineering and leadership training in the region and the foundation on which many companies have thrived.’

Congratulations to the 14 apprentices recognised for their hard work and achievement throughout their apprenticeships:
