Job Description:

PJ Norman are seeking a skilled and dedicated Metal Fabricator Apprentice to join our close-knit production team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with team members to fabricate steel-framed buildings for the industrial and farming sectors, as well as a variety of bespoke customer orders including gates, troughs, and doors.

Please Note: A significant portion of this role involves high-volume welding for steel building production. This is a repetitive, production-focused welding position. If you do not enjoy steady, consistent welding, this role may not be the right fit for you.

Day to day duties include

  • Fabrication and welding of steel-framed buildings for the industrial and agricultural sectors
  • Executing high-quality MIG and TIG welds on various steel components
  • Manufacturing bespoke products based on customer needs, including gates, troughs, and doors
  • Reading, interpreting, and following precise engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols
  • Performing sheet metal fabrication tasks as required by specifications
  • Operating workshop machinery and fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, and drills
  • Utilizing precision measurement tools, including tape measures and calipers, to carry out quality checks
  • Safe handling and positioning of heavy steel components using overhead cranes, chains, and slings
  • Cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining all tools and workshop equipment
  • Maintaining a safe, tidy, and hazard-free working environment
  • Working closely as part of a team to deliver high-volume production projects
Qualifications Required:

All applicants must have achieved a minimum of 4 GCSEs (9-4 / A*-C) including English and Maths.

Qualifications Gained(upon completion):

Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Standard which includes the Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies as its qualification element.
