Sexual Abuse

Sexual abuse occurs to men, women and children. It is often the most difficult to talk about. There are many support groups and charities who can help.

Sexual abuse is any unwanted sexual act or activity. There are many different kinds including but not limited to: rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, sexual harassment, honour-based violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), trafficking, sexual exploitation.

Sexual abuse can be carried out by strangers, someone known or even someone trusted such as a friend, colleague, family member or partner.

Sexual abuse is always the responsibility of the perpetrator. There is no excuse for sexual violence, and it can never be justified.
