Neglect

Neglect is often thought to only affect children, however it also affects the elderly and anyone who is vulnerable and relies on someone else.

There are 4 general aspects that this can include.

Physical Neglect. Failing to provide the necessary food, clothing, and shelter; or inappropriate or lack of supervision.

Medical Neglect. Failure to provide necessary medical or mental health treatment.

Educational Neglect. Failure to educate a child or to provide for special education needs.

Emotional Neglect. Failure to provide for the emotional needs or provide psychosocial support to a child or vulnerable person, or permitting a child to use alcohol or other drugs.

If you think you or someone you know is being abused, or neglected you should tell someone you trust. This could be a friend, a teacher, a family member, a social worker, a doctor or healthcare professional, a police officer or someone else that you trust. Ask them to help you report it.
