The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is a renowned heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England, running through the scenic North York Moors National Park. Originally conceived by George Stephenson as the Whitby and Pickering Railway in 1831 and opened in 1836 to foster trade, a section of the line closed in 1965. However, the route between Grosmont and Pickering was successfully reopened in 1973 by the North York Moors Historical Railway Trust Ltd.
Now operating as a major tourist attraction, the 24-mile (39 km) line has earned numerous industry awards.
