Over 80 guests attended Derwent Training’s Apprentice Awards Evening at The York House Marquee at The Talbot Hotel, Malton for a third year. The Chairman of Derwent Training, Richard Shaw, presented each award which was watched on by employers, and the apprentice’s family and friends.
Derwent Training’s Chief Executive Officer, Claire Gavaghan said this of the evening: ”Two striking moments from the Awards Evening resonated with me and re-enforced the value of Apprenticeships to individuals, employers, and the region as a whole.
One parent of a 24-year old apprentice was in tears. She told me that when her son was at school he was told he would not amount to anything as he struggled with numeracy and literacy. Yet here he was being highly commended for achieving his Level 2 in Maths and English and making good progress with his Apprenticeship.
One employer, who was celebrating his apprentices success tonight, told me that apprentices were the pipeline of talent that meant his company was confidently entering its 27th year as a successful business based in North Yorkshire.
I am very proud of the contribution Derwent Training makes to the people and employers in North Yorkshire.”
Derwent Training are proud to continue to support the training of the next generation of apprentices. In 2022 we are pleased to have recruited over 40 new apprentices and to be working in partnership with 8 new employers.
