Job Description:
As a quality apprentice at WHS Plastics, you will be part of an innovative and knowledgeable quality department. Working with prominent customers, the Quality team ensures that products are of exceptional quality and suitable for their purpose.  Liaising with customers the team agrees the standards and product specifications, carries out tests on sample products, writes systematic reports, is heavily involved in problem solving and liaises with a variety of personnel.

  • To support the introduction of new parts.
  • To understand and be able to approve parts in accordance with manuals and to have a good working knowledge of external requirements and standards (IATF 16949).
  • To develop and implement measurement systems.
  • To hold internal concern meetings to help resolve / facilitate resolving both internal and external customer concerns.
  • To support the Manufacturing shopfloor with any additional documentation that makes the Production process more robust and reduces the risk of defect parts escaping to the next process / customer.
  • To be familiar with the problem-solving methodologies in order to close out problems in accordance with customer requirements.
  • To be able to work in accordance with strict Timing Plans as is typical in the automotive industry.

Qualifications Required:

Must have at least 4 GCSE's at grade C or above or 4-9, particularly in Maths, English and Science

Personal Qualities:
  • The post holder will be mentored and trained by experienced Managers and Engineers within the Quality department. An interest in Quality is desirable; however previous experience of this type of work is not essential as we are more interested in innovative ability than specialist knowledge.Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to manage own workload independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and high pressured environment
  • An interest in Quality, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • H&S Environment awareness

  • Eager and willing to learn a variety of new skills
Qualifications Gained(upon completion):

Upon completion the candidate would gain an Engineering Technician Level 3 Standard which would include the following qualifications

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering - Technical Support Technician
