Dale Power Solutions awarded Queen's Award for Enterprise: Promoting Opportunity 2018

Critical power product and services provider Dale Power Solutions has been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Promoting Opportunity 2018. The award has been given in recognition of the very successful apprenticeship programme that the company has been operating for a number of years. The programme aims to communicate the benefits of apprenticeships, promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects and work within the local community to provide accessible training, career opportunities, and an alternative to further education.

Shaping the Future for Engineering at Open Evening

DTA's training centre in Malton was busy with budding engineers on Tuesday 6th March visiting the Open Evening as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

The evening allowed visitors to have a tour of DTA's facilities such as the Mechanical Workshop, state of the art Mechatronics Lab and Welding Bays. It also gave them the opportunity to ask current apprentices about their experience of being an engineering apprentice and finding out what great local employers are on their doorstep in North Yorkshire and what a career in their company entails.

Apprentices take their learning into the community

Apprentices take their learning into the community

DTA's first year welding apprentices took their on the job learning into the community on Tuesday 6th February to repair a broken fence around a veteran tree in Malton's Castle Gardens.

The project which was in partnership with Derwent Riverside Project Group allowed the apprentices to apply skills they wouldn't normally use in their day to day jobs; designing the fence which included costings and transportation from DTA's training centre to Castle Garden which allowed them to develop their communication skills by having open discussions with the rest of their group which will benefit them in their careers within the local area. The apprentices who took part in the project showed fantastic teamwork and work ethic throughout the duration of the project.
