Training to boost your business
Derwent Training, in partnership with York & North Yorkshire LEP, is offering training for employers which is financially supported by the Government. This training is nationally called Bootcamps.
 
We are offering  to support skills and knowledge development in engineering and manufacturing. Learners must be aged 19 years and above. Employers pay either 10 or 30% of the cost depending on the size of their business. The Government pays the rest. So it is highly subsidised. Learners will not only receive the training but have access to information, advice and guidance as part of a wrap-around offer.

Engineering the next generation

Derwent Training Association are pleased to welcome over 40 apprentice starts to the training centre during September. 

Our Chief Executive Officer, Claire Gavaghan said this: ''The impact of the pandemic together with the withdrawal from the EU has impacted on the engineering sector. The industry is regrouping and we are pleased to support them by training their employees. We have welcomed a large number of new apprentices, and employers are continuing to recruit as productivity increases. We are alongside them every step of the way.''

Changes to Covid Regulations at the training centre

The training centre is not a public place and as such, we are able to have Health and Safety restrictions and regulations to ensure Covid resilience. 

It is crucial that we remain vigilant and protect everyone's health. We must also reduce as much as possible the likelihood of Covid circulating in the centre and an endless cycle of moving to temporary remote learning.

Celebrating the success of apprentices

Thursday 2nd September saw over 80 guests attend Derwent Training Association's Apprentice Awards Evening which is held to celebrate the achievements of apprentices during 2021. We were pleased to hold the celebration at The York House Marquee at The Talbot Hotel, Malton for a second year which was a fantastic setting to enjoy the sunshine, and celebrate the apprentices with their families and their employers. 

We were honoured to welcome Sue Jefferson, Chair of the Business Board at the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, to announce and present the apprentices with their Apprentice of the Year Awards.
