As a Test Engineering Apprentice, you will carry out product quality controls at each stage of manufacturing and delivery, following Quality Management instructions. You will produce quality measurements, identify potential issues, and, if necessary, implement a contingency plan.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Ensure component conformity with engineering drawings by managing incoming inspection and metrology activities within the plant, while maintaining the safety of personnel and property in the work area.
  • Define and continuously improve standard inspection protocols in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Perform equipment system qualification, including Gage R&R studies.
  • Optimise inspection methodologies by leveraging the best available techniques and tools.
  • Support production and quality engineers in verifying part conformity against specifications during quality issues, utilising component metrology.
  • Manage the calibration program for all measurement equipment within the plant.

Qualifications Required:

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have:

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths, English, and STEM related (grade Grade 4/C or above)
  • Achieved either a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering or a minimum of 90 credits in a Level 3 BTEC or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • A demonstrable interest in engineering.
