Brathay Apprentice Challenge Team start Community Project.

The NYEngApps Brathay Apprentice Challenge Team is made up of engineering apprentices from across North Yorkshire who all undertake training at DTA.

All the team decided on building a cricket net for Westow Cricket Club which is located along the A64 in between Malton and York. The team are helping the Cricket Club and without this, the Club would have had to raise £1,000 to buy the net themselves.

The team have been in close contact with the Club to ensure they were clear of their requirements as well as attending a recent AGM to discuss their plans with club members.

Firstly, the team have had to use their CAD skills to design the frame to they knew the exact measurements before building to plan for supplies. They had to source a supplier to provide the scaffolding poles and fixings and deliver these.

All the team started building the frame during the first week in April and have shown fantastic teamwork and commitment to the project showing various engineering skills such as manufacturing and welding.

The project has to be ready for Friday 7th April in order to be ready for Westow Cricket Club' Summer Fayre on Saturday 9th April.
